Nokia is going to release a limited edition ‘Nokia N950 phone’ for meego development and this is not for sale. Should ‘Qt Ambassadors’ get this phone?

Can’t totally ignore this possibility, probably it might be a surprise as this [developer.qt.nokia.com] one was handed over.

My guess? Something that will stand out of the crowd. Perhaps something that uses NFC. Just a guess though.

Qt Mobility 1.2 should have NFC APIs – it should have to be supported by Ovi store though…

Hi Andre, All,

I am really excited by the option to develop and test apps on N950 so this morning I have completed the form for the Nokia N9 Developer Program. But after that I did not receive any confirmation e-mail. Is this normal? Have anyone of you received a confirmation email after completing the request form for N950?

10x,
Leon

I don’t know, I did not try for a device. In case you were wondering: I do not work for Nokia.

Personally, I am more of a desktop developer, and have less interest in the mobile space at the moment.

I am experimenting with MeeGo on my netbook in my free time. It is real fun (for developers) and I am interested to see the MeeGo/Harmattan on a smartphone.

I recommend all of you to try MeeGo too when you have spare time :)

Even though the N950 is missing the NFC? What is actually the advantage of N950 over N9? Only the keyboard?

I know that selected Qt Ambassadors will be notified on or before Wednesday, July 6 via email but I was expecting a automated email that my submission is received successfully :) I guess that as a developer I doubt in everything :D Anyway I will wait and keep my fingers crossed :)

Not all technical specification of N950 are known at the moment. There are several known at moment difference between both models:

- size and type of the display

- N950 has a slot of SD card

- Different battery (N950 Li-Ion 1320 mAh vs N9 Li-Ion 1450 mAh (BV-5JW) )

I hope that nokia doesn’t make the same error twice, by not implementing autofocus in the camera like they did with c7 :)
