Do you need such functionality in app or your simply need a picture of your application running? If second than better use special apps I think. For example at my Symbian phone I use ScreenSnap for such use cases.

ScreenSnap worked well for me too. Here is a like to ScreenSnap [smartphoneware.com] for Symbian.
