Lecture L10 References Deprecated APIs

L10 refers to QFtp several times despite it being deprecated. This is almost certainly wrong unless you’re planning on undeprecating them again.

While buggy etc. QFtp hasn’t been marked as officially deprecated in Qt 4.7 (unlike other classes such as QHttp). Btw, please report this kind of things here

Well, I just followed the link of where to report issues so maybe that needs fixing too. :-) I’ll use that in future though.

QFtp has been a “don’t use for new code” since 4.4, so even if it hasn’t got the official ‘kiss of death’ IMHO it’s not something that new developers should be being pointed towards.

Please report issues like this in our bugtracker [bugreports.qt.nokia.com]. Issues will get lost when reported in this forum!

Wait a minute, so instead of dumping bugs/suggestions in the Wiki page I linked above it’s better to submit a bug report?

peppe, of course. Bug report is some “official” thing, that can be tracked. Wiki page is not such thing, it is only the Wiki page.

And not every developer at Nokia is present on Qt DevNet and can even read the wiki!

Wasn’t that obvious to me. On the devnet homepage there’s “Check out the 10 lectures, excercises and labs, provide feedback or report errors!”, with “report errors” pointing to that wiki page. So it was reasonable to assume that the wiki was kept under control by the docs team.

peppe, probably this wiki page will be turned into one big ticket in bugtracker. Small tickets with couple of typos are of course not something that is really good.

I was on the wrong path too. The education pages are one of the exceptions where the feedback should be left on the wiki page – the Trolls explicitly state so on that page :-)

The only problem about this page is that it is group wiki, so you need to join the group if you will find something.

That is correct. It is much more efficient to track typos and errors on a wiki page rather than in bugtracker issues. After all, we’re looking at text here. Hanne is keeping an eye on the wiki and the forum.

How so? The wiki is visible to anyone — group member or not. Or are you referring to the search? I was under the impression that the site search doesn’t care, what kind of page it is. It’s only the tags that don’t integrate with groups (on purpose).
