[Suggestion] Add a “language” marker to the “posts since last visit” or any other “forum search”...

I see the goal is to have threads in multiple languages (other than English). Unfortunately most people can speak a limited set of languages and probably will not benefit at all of trying to read posts/threads in languages that they don’t understand. I see that some posts may be interesting enough that one may want to take on the challenge to try to translate but this won’t be norm.

It would be very helpful to have a indicator of the “main” language of the thread anywhere the thread or the posts are listed.

This is by no means an attempt of suggesting that we should only have posts in English. Of course posting in English will probably bring the most number of people to the discussion.

Some way of setting language preferences (I’d like to read German and English posts, but not Russian, for example) is in order. Not quite sure what would be the best implementation, but thinking about it for sure.

On the same subject I would also suggest that it may be interesting to allow the user on his profile page to select the languages he can “understand” or “mainly” want to read so pages like the “post since last visit” will only display those.

Another option would be to have a filter on the page by language.

I do think it is valid for people to have the opportunity to write in other languages but most likely you will not want to try to read something that is written in a Language that you don’t have a clue about.

I agree with the filter for language, i’m not able to read some language. +1 for fcrochik.

This filter would make sense. Or that you only see forums of groups are are in, then that could also be something like a filter :-)
