Can we have some sort of statistics displayed in the forum

Like the total number of users online and number of guests currently viewing the forum.

Also would like to know what and when was the maximum number of people were active online in the forum.

That is a nice way to show that the forums are active (rather than stale, unused, out-of-date, …).

I’m also curious about then during the day usage peaks. I have gotten the feeling that is sometime during the day in Europe because things seem to get quite in the evening on the US west coast.

With that quote – it might be even better to have some sort of heat map of the world be shown. Would look great once the number of active users increases.

btw I feel we have a huge number of registered users, but not active.

Google Analytics has a nice report with a world map showing activity from various locations. Perhaps it could be used and exposed somehow on the QtDevNet.

The wishlist bug is growing possibly too much.

Probably the trolls will be overwhelmed by too much feature requests. :)

Oh, they already are. I’m sure of it. They need someone to fund a Project Elf for themselves. :)

I am sure these might be there in their list. But would be made public only after some time. Also with the groups tab enabled we can expect some more new features related to demographics and teams.

Yes google Analytics is fantastic for this skill!
You can add some parameter to control the activity of specific user like troll, or normal user.

Other companies using the same site software as us has made those Google world maps where each user has a pin. I personally think those are a bit scary, for some IP’s they know your street. What do you guys think about those?

I’ll share some site trivia though, the forum has 2361 threads with a total of 13606 posts in them.

And here is a map of the world, colored by devnet visits (not unique) in the lats 30 days, green is alot:

Wow, it fantastic this map!
Yes, is a bit scary the question about the ip = street, but is interesting create this map every 7 days and show this map with a total of user in a nation without specific a single user.

Maybe that would be subject to an option in the preferences page (maybe with show my address, city, country only in statistics) with a safe default? Of course measures must be taken to kick off unknown uses (aka visitors) off the very detailed statistics (they should count for the country only).

Good idea, but unless we have something like online chat feature in Devnet, how will this info really help me as a Qt developer/end user? Why should I care?
