Necessitas - how to slide load everything?
I have compiled, loaded and run a Qt program on a (supported?) Android device. Specifically an HP TouchPad running Cyannogen7. Please correct me if I am wrong in the follow assumptions: To do this, my Qt program forced the loading of another program called ministro. Ministro in turn loads in Qt libraries based on the needs of the original Qt program and on the hardware platform. Now, I assume both ministro and the Qt libraries are all being pulled from the google store (aka google play). If true, then…
What can be done with Android platforms which can not log into google play??? It appears many many cheap Android tablets can not use google play! Why?
And if an Android platform can not access google play – I assume that that Android platform can not run Necessitas. Which, to me, sounds really odd. Why should using Necessitas hing on a commercial server?
Along these lines, why can’t you “side load” everything to run a Qt applicaitons on an Android? I have been looking – but I have only found help “side loading” ministro. What about all the Qt libraries? With out these Necessitas is useless.
Or am I missing something?
There has been discussion on the necessitas mailing list about packaging the Qt libs with the app so you won’t need to rely on Ministro – look for yourself: https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/android-qt
Thanks guys. My 18 day old laptop died and w/it my install of Necessitas. So it will be several days until I get a new Necessitas laptop development platform. In the mean time, I’m trying to figure out if the two of you are talking about the same approach. First impressions are that you are not. But I’ll have to do a bit more research.
Regarding cheap tablets. We picked up several and the cheapest “Polaroid” tablet connects with the google store just fine. I was thinking it had more to do with the ability (or in-ability) of makeing a secure connection to the store. But that’s just a guess. All I know is it is really agrivating not to be able to simply load up a Necessitas APK and get it working on an Android. Especially when your appcation is working just fine on a non-Android embedded Linux device.
