A parenthesis at the end of a link is not taken as part of the link
In this post [qt-project.org] the link is broken, because it has a closing parenthesis at the end. Bug report filed of JIRA [bugreports.qt-project.org]

With a period (.), the problem is the opposite. That makes it impossible to write proper sentences that end with a hyperlink.
My first thought was that the period is the problem, but introducing a blank did not help.
But you are right there you have the opposite problem. And that is definitely more than just a bit of nuisance.
