Did you see the Network examples [developer.qt.nokia.com] ?
The Fortune Client [developer.qt.nokia.com] and Server [developer.qt.nokia.com] examples are quite helpful as a start.

i did look at the fortune server code, however it simply sends off a response to the client. i seem to be confused with how the server should read a client response. the fortune sever does not do this.

There is another thread with a similar topic [developer.qt.nokia.com] . Have a look onto my responses. I assume that gives the answers.
