strange that nobody from Qt try to fix this before : it was just making Windows QMl application unusable under Windows !

Agree, that was quite a big regession on Windows.

I need to force image to asynchronous:true to the same smooth animation as in Qt 4.7.4 (for example coverflow with HD image)

Will this fix (performance drop seems rather significant) be included in the official SDK or available through the SDK maintenance app? Or is it only available through Git and in future releases of the SDK?
