RIM pushed its Qt port to github

… and includes it in its “Native Open Source Components Initiative”.

See here [github.com] and here [blackberry.github.com].

All I can figure in the instant: it’s Qt 4.8.

I suppose it would be a good idea to look at getting this work merged back into the mainline Qt repo on gitorious at some point too…

I might have a look at the differences in the two repos at some point to get an idea of how much work that would be.

Not gitorious anymore :) Qt-project is ON! But yeah, would be nice if this, Necessitas and iOS ports were integrated into mainline. It’s probable now, with Open Governance, especially for Necessitas, since it’s properly done as a Lighthouse plugin and has a good user base.

sierdzio: qt-project still uses gitorious for its code hosting as far as I can tell.

Only as a read-only mirror. All patching, committing etc. goes through gerrit now. Well, never mind, you meant integration of RIM code into Qt, where exactly is the server that would make it happen is less important ;) I was just being picky, sorry.

No worries. I haven’t ever committed anything to Qt itself so I still think of gitorious as the place the code lives because that’s where you’d pull from.

Anyway, ideally this port would be based on the Lighthouse work like Necessitas otherwise I can’t really see it getting merged into mainline. We need to keep the codebase clean and non-lighthouse ports probably aren’t going to help with that.

Anyway, I’m not going to look at it just yet, I have an exam I’m supposed to be studying for…
